A Palmyra woman was killed and a Salem man suffered life-threatening injuries in a two-vehicle crash just after 7:30 yesterday morning (Tuesday) on U.S. 150 east of Palmyra near Gettelfinger Road.
Police said Anthony L Schlicher, 22, was driving west on U.S. 150 when, for an unknown reason, his 2009 silver Kia Spectra crossed the center line and struck a silver 2003 Saturn Ion driven by Lisa M. Wilson, 45.
The preliminary investigation reveals Wilson made attempts to avoid the collision but was unable to do so. She was pronounced dead at the scene by Harrison County Coroner Rusty Sizemore.
Schlicher was transported by ground ambulance to University Hospital in Louisville. Emergency workers had requested an air medical transport but was denied due to weather conditions.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts, police said, and no passengers were in either vehicle.
A crash reconstruction team from the Indiana State Police was called to the scene.
Responding to the scene were personnel from the Indiana State Police, Palmyra Police Dept. and Volunteer Fire Dept., the Harrison County Sheriff’s Dept., Ramsey Volunteer Fire Dept. and Harrison County Emergency Medical Services.
