Mary E. Carpenter

Mary Ellen Carpenter, 88, New Salisbury, died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013, at Hosparus Inpatient Care Center in Louisville.
Born Jan. 25, 1925, in Central, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Nora Harper Cunningham.
She was a member of Hursttown United Methodist Church near Corydon and the Ladies Aid at her church and was a former employee of Wennings Packing Company in Central Barren and Pillsbury in New Albany.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Guy Wesley Carpenter; a sister, Mildred Carver; and three brothers, Ruel, Corda and Charles Cunningham.
Survivors include a daughter, Rhonda Ann Day of Louisville; a sister, Kay Ament of Louisville; a grandson, Jeremy Lee Day of Elizabeth; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Wednesday, Feb. 27, from 2 to 8 p.m. and Thursday, Feb. 28, after 9 a.m. at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.
Funeral: Thursday, Feb. 28, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with burial in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Corydon.
Officiant: The Rev. Ted Chalk.
