Harold E. Fravel, 91, Corydon, died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, at University Hospital in Louisville.
Born April 2, 1921, in Corydon, he was the son of the late Amzie O. and Emma E. Brown Fravel.
He was a retired manager at the Harrison County Farm Bureau in Corydon, a member of Heidelberg United Methodist Church near Corydon, a farmer, a former owner and trainer of harness racing horses and an Army Air Forces veteran of World War II.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, the former Louise Wagner; a son, James William Fravel; and a brother, Cecil W. Fravel.
Survivors include his wife, the former Ruby Ellen Rhodes; a son, Lewis H. Fravel of Corydon; a daughter, Mary Ann Fravel of Corydon; three stepsons, the Rev. John E. Windell of Stendal, Richard A. Windell of Hart, Mich., and Larry F. Windell of Corydon; a sister, Ruby Amburgey of Sellersburg; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation was yesterday (Tuesday) and will be today after 9 a.m. at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.
The funeral will be today at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with burial in Heidelberg Cemetery near Corydon. The Revs. C. Marion Brown and Scott Taylor will officiate. Pallbearers will be Tim and Wayne Fravel, Ron Timberlake, Glen Sonner, Owen Toler and Eldon Lahue.
The family suggests memorial gifts to Heidelberg United Methodist Church.
