Gilbert R. Abell

Gilbert R. Abell, 57, English, died Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, at 8:50 a.m. at the V.A. Hospital in Louisville.
Born June 3, 1955, in Colorado Springs, Colo., he was the son of the late James R. Abell and Betty Jean Hensley.
He was an Army veteran, a first class steel fitter for Jeffboat in Jeffersonville and of the Christian faith.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a child, Shannon Ross Abell.
Survivors include his wife, the former Lucette Doss; two children, Sarah Beth Abell of New Albany and Hollie Elaine Mull of Salem; two brothers, Ronald Abell of Birdseye and Ralph Abell of New Albany; two sisters, Jackie Reschar and Cheryl Abell, both of Jeffersonville; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Tuesday, Jan. 29, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Bethel Christian Church in Doolittle Mills.
Funeral: Tuesday, Jan. 29, at 1 p.m. at the church with burial in Bethany Union Cemetery.
Arrangements: Denbo Funeral Home in English.
