William L. (Bill) Hussung, 79, Lanesville, died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services in New Albany.
Born Feb. 10, 1933, in Lanesville, the son of the late Edgar G. and Carmen D. Bell Hussung.
He was retired from General Auto in Corydon, was a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church near Lanesville, was a member of Lanesville Volunteer Fire Dept., American Legion Hornickle Post No. 379 in Elizabeth, the Harrison County Sheriff’s Merit Board and the Franklin Township Advisory Board, was a member and past president of the Lanesville Town Council and was a retired staff sergeant in the Air Force, having served in the Korean War.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Russell, Donald and Edwin Hussung, and a sister, Josephine Gibson.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, the former Hilda R. Stark; two sons, Scott W. Hussung of New Middletown and Bradley L. Hussung of Georgetown; a daughter, Tammy J. Lieber of Lanesville; a brother, Marvin A. Hussung of Lanesville; three sisters, Wilma J. Smith and Carol L. Smith, both of Lanesville, and Paula D. Faith of New Middletown; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Friday, Jan. 25, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Jan. 26, after 9 a.m. at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.
Funeral: Saturday, Jan. 26, at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church south of Lanesville with burial in St. John’s Cemetery.
Officiant: Pastor Christopher Truelsen.
Pallbearers: Tate Lieber, Drew, David and Donnie Jo Hussung, Levi Thompson and Joe Davis.
The family suggests memorial gifts to St. John’s Lutheran Church.
