King celebration Sunday

The 27th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Ecumenical Tribute in Corydon will take place Sunday at 2 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church. This year’s theme is ‘Down Through The Years … ‘
Father Robert Hankee, pastor at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Corydon, will give the welcome and invocation. The Rev. Jerry Robinson, pastor at St. Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church in Corydon, and Cindy Bauer, from St. Joseph, will introduce the praise teams, Down By the Wayside choir from Louisville and Another Blessing from Irvington, Ky.
Part two of the program will begin at 2:30 with scripture reading by Lincoln Hills Christian Church Senior Pastor Webster Oglesby. He’ll be followed by musical selections from St. Paul’s Briana Rogers and St. Joseph’s bilingual choir, a skit titled ‘Rosa Parks’ by St. Paul’s Diana Rogers, a brief history session by St. Joseph’s Trish Beddoe and an expression of praise and a musical number by Bethel AME Church from New Albany. Harry Rogers of St. Paul will also have a reading before Bethel AME Church choir and Yvonne Grundy perform a musical selection.
The guest speaker, the Rev. Monty Forte of Fifth Street Baptist Church in Louisville, will be introduced by Robinson.
The Rev. Barbara Harris of Bethel AME will have an invitation, and blessings and prayer will be by Hankee and Robinson.
Attendees are welcome to stay for a meal after the program.
