Maurice A. Roby

Maurice Allen Roby, 73, Laconia, died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012, at Harrison County Hospital in Corydon.
Born July 12, 1939, near Laconia, he was the son of the late Alfred L. and Elma F. Luther Roby.
He was a millwright through Teamsters Local 2209 in Louisville, proprietor of the Laconia Salvage Yard, a lifelong member (61-13) of Boone Township Volunteer Fire Dept., Indiana Volunteer Firemen’s Association EMA-613, a member of South Harrison Water board (secretary), a second generation lifelong volunteer for WHAS Crusade for Children, a veteran of Kentucky Air National Guard/Air Force and a member of Union Chapel Christian Church near Laconia.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Sue Fisher.
Survivors include his wife, the former Gladys Sylene Allen; three daughters, Peggy Lynn Roby of New Albany, Judith Kay Roby Alonso of Sumter, S.C., and Nancy Elizabeth Roby-Steen of New Salisbury; a sister, Phyllis Ann Collins of Louisville; and five grandchildren.
Visitation: Thursday, Dec. 27, from 5 to 8 p.m., Friday, Dec. 28, from 1 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 29, after 10 a.m. at Swarens Funeral Home in Ramsey.
Funeral: Saturday, Dec. 29, at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorial gifts to the WHAS Crusade for Children.
