Gayle Juanita Byerley Deputy, 95, Crandall, died Monday, Dec. 17, 2012.
Born May 30, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Marion and Anna Crone Byerley.
She was a member of the New Salisbury High School girls’ championship basketball team in 1936, employed by Levy Dept. Store in Louisville, a retired government inspector for ICI America in Charlestown and a member of Crandall Methodist Church and Old Capital No. 467 Order of the Eastern Star, where she received recognition for 50-year membership several years ago.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Deputy; five brothers Ernest, Dallas, Donald, Stanley and Brenton Byerley; and a sister, Alma Bruder.
Survivors include a daughter, Suzann Slayton of Clarksville; a sister, Thelma Taylor of Crandall; and a granddaughter.
Visitation: Wednesday, Dec. 19, from 2 to 8 p.m. at Swarens Funeral Home in Ramsey.
Funeral: Thursday, Dec. 20, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with burial in Bethlehem Cemetery near Crandall.
The family suggests memorial gifts to the Harrison County Animal Control Facility, 3132 Hope Lane NW, Corydon, IN 47112.
