Edward K. Young

Edward K. Young, 83, Elizabeth, died Friday, Dec. 14 2012, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services in New Albany.
Born Aug. 28, 1929, in Louisville, he was the son of the late Early H. and Atha Banta Young.
He had been an engineer at Welborn Hospital in Evansville, retired as an engineer from St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, Ky., had an amateur radio operator’s license, was a licensed electrical contractor in Indiana and Kentucky, certified in all refrigeration, and was a member of Kentucky Hospital Engineers Association, National Fire Protection Association and Tunnel Hill Christian Church in Edwardsville, where he served as chairman of the church elders.
Survivors include his wife, the former Nancy Utley; five sons, David and Phillip Young and Keith Kneir, all of Evansville, John Young of Tucker, Ga., and Kevin Kneir of Elizabeth; seven daughters, Cheryl Sansing of Evansville, Kim Hayes of St. Louis, Mary Royse and Debbie Stepter, both of Lexington, Ky., Carolyn Young of Elizabeth, Kim Wampler of Newburgh and Kellie Johnson of Louisville; a brother, James L. Young of Louisville; 22 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Wednesday, Dec. 19, from 2 to 8 p.m. and Thursday, Dec. 20, after 10 a.m. at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Georgetown.
Funeral: Thursday, Dec. 20, at 1 p.m. at Tunnel Hill Christian Church with burial in Edwardsville Cemetery.
Officiant: The Rev. Becky Gibbons.
Pallbearers: David, John and Phillip Young, Kevin and Keith Kneir, Steve Sansing, Curt Hayes and Louis Stepter.
The family suggests memorial gifts to his church.
