Myrtle Ruth Fessel, 90, New Salisbury, died Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, at Kindred Transitional Care and Rehabilitation-Indian Creek in Corydon.
Born April 18, 1922, at New Salisbury, she was the daughter of the late William O. and Lizzie Ella Wolfe Gutknecht.
She was a homemaker and attended St. Bernard Catholic Church in Frenchtown and St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Bradford.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, Leonard E. Fessel; a brother, Bill Gutknecht; and two sisters; Margie Wheat and Mildred Dodds.
Survivors include nine children, Jerry L. Fessel and Cathy Pearl, both of Corydon, Max W. Fessel Sr., Rena Lois Stickler and Mark A. Fessel, all of Depauw, Calvin Russ Fessel of Noblesville, Judith Ann Matthews of Prospect, Ky., and Thomas L. and Samuel L. Fessel, both of New Salisbury; 26 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Monday, Dec. 3, from 4 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday, Dec. 4, from 3 to 8 p.m. at Swarens Funeral Home in Ramsey and Wednesday, Dec. 5, after 9 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Bradford.
Funeral: Wednesday, Dec. 5, at 10 a.m. at the church with burial in the church cemetery.
