Judith Garnett Wilson Yancy Peace, 85, Brandenburg, died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012, at Harrison County Hospital in Corydon.
Born Jan. 27, 1927, in Brandenburg, she was the daughter of the late Thad and Flora Wilson.
She was a secretary at the Olin plant in Brandenburg and later became the only female draftsman (self taught) in the Olin Corp. for the remainder of her employment, retiring with more than 30 years of service, was an accomplished artist and was a member of Brandenburg Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir, and several art groups and organizations.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, William (Buster) Wilson; a sister, Eleanor Borders Johnson; her husbands, Wade Yancy and Roy Peace; and a granddaughter, Lynnette Thompson.
Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Goldman of Depauw; two sons, Michael and Thomas (Barty) Yancy, both of Radcliff, Ky.; three sisters, Dorothy Ann Dowden of Montana, Martha (Jean) Scheible of Vine Grove, Ky., and Linda Dodson of Brandenburg; three stepdaughters, Barbara Thompson, Roberta Hockman and Peggy Darnall; 15 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Thursday, Oct. 18, from 4 to 8 p.m. and Friday, Oct. 19, after 11 a.m. at Bruington-Jenkins-Sturgeon Funeral Home.
Funeral: Friday, Oct. 19, at 3 p.m. at the funeral home with burial in Cap Anderson Cemetery.
The family suggests memorial gifts to the WHAS Crusade for Children or to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
