John M. Pierce

John M. Pierce, 66, Elizabethtown, Ky., formerly of Hardin County, Ky., died Saturday, Aug. 25, 2012, at Baptist East Hospital in Louisville.
Born in Vallejo, Calif., he served in the Army Reserves, volunteered for the Boy Scouts, the American Red Cross and for the Cabinet for Health and Family Services and retired after 34 years from Dow Corning.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Huggins Pierce.
Survivors include his wife, the former Kathy Kirkham, formerly of Corydon; a son, Chris Pierce of Louisville; a daughter, Amy Pierce of Glendale, Ky.; his father, Martin Pierce of Elizabethtown, Ky.; a stepson, Scot Richardson of Rineyville, Ky.; two brothers, Robert K. Pierce of Chalfont, Pa., and William R. Pierce of Durham, N.C.; a sister, Judy P. Nacke of Louisville; and three grandchildren.
Visitation: Tuesday, Aug. 28, from 5 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday, Aug. 29, from noon to 3 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home.
Funeral: Wednesday, Aug. 29, at 3 p.m. at the funeral home with burial in St. James Cemetery.
Officiant: The Rev. Roger McGuffin.
The family suggests memorial gifts to the American Red Cross, the American Heart Association or the donor’s favorite charity.
