Margery Katherine Schoen, 88, Elizabeth, died Friday, Aug. 31, 2012, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services in New Albany.
Born April 6, 1924, in Lanesville, she was the daughter of the late Louis J. and Mary Elizabeth Luther Walther.
She was a life member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lanesville and a member of the Martha Society at her church, Hornickel Post No. 379 American Legion Ladies Auxiliary in Elizabeth, VFW Post 2950 Ladies Auxiliary in Corydon and the Busy Bee Bunco club.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Brian Brown; a brother, Robert Walther; and two sisters, Hazel Schoen and Doris Missi.
Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Marcell H. Schoen; five sons, Rodney Schoen of Lanesville, Roger, Randall and Robin Schoen, all of Elizabeth, and Ralph Schoen of Corydon; a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Miller of Elizabeth; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Sunday, Sept. 2, from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, Sept. 3, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Tuesday, Sept. 4, after 9 a.m. at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.
Funeral: Tuesday, Sept. 4, at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lanesville with burial in the church cemetery.
Officiant: Pastor Christopher Truelsen.
Pallbearers: Rodney, Roger, Ralph, Randall and Robin Schoen and Doug Miller.
The family suggests memorial gifts to her church.
