New Salisbury Inv. begins Aug. 4

The 40th New Salisbury Golf Course Invitational tournament, presented by Cleveland Golf and Srixon, will be Aug. 4 and 5.
Participants will have a chance to become a millionaire with a closest-to-the-pin/hole-in-one contest. The three closest-to-the-pin participants from Saturday’s round on hole 2/11 will have a chance at a 200-yard shot Sunday after the tournament is complete. The closest-to-the-hole out of those three wins $1,000 cash. And, if someone makes the shot, they win $1 million.
The number of tournament flights will be determined by the number of entries. The cost is $100 and includes a practice round (cart not included; cost is $10), two rounds of golf (cart included), two chicken dinners on Saturday and a tee prize.
The barbecue chicken dinner will be served from noon until 7 p.m. Saturday and additional dinners can be purchased in the pro shop for $7 for adults and $5 for children.
Five places in each flight will receive a prize (first, $350 cash; second, $200; and third, $150). The format is a 36-hole medal play unless inclement weather shortens the tournament. The field is limited to the first 120 entries, and all amateurs are eligible to play.
To register, call the course at 347-2396.
The course will also have a shoot-out Thursday, Aug. 2, at 6 p.m. and a Cleveland Demo Day Friday, Aug. 3, from 3:30 to 6 p.m. The regular Friday night scramble will begin at 6.
