Betty Rae Kunc, 79, Lawrence, Kan., died Tuesday, July 3, 2012, at her home.
Born Jan. 3, 1933, in Laconia, she was the daughter of the late Thurman and Olvie King Yocum.
She was a licensed practical nurse, a homemaker, a former employee of USD 497 in food service, a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Lawrence and the Daughters of Isabella and was formerly involved in 4-H as project leader for cooking, gardening and sewing.
Survivors include three daughters, Sheryl Simmons and Lisa Kunc, both of Lawrence, and Brenda Kunc-Byroad of Flower Mound, Texas; a brother, Duane Yocum of Corydon; two sisters, Irene Strome of Indianapolis and Mary Kershaw of Florissant, Mo.; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
Funeral: Friday, July 6, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church with burial in Mount Calvary Cemetery, both in Lawrence. Officiant: Father Godfrey Mullin.
Organist: Dr. Mark Holmberg
Cantor: Maureen Brogren.
Pallbearers: Taylor Stuart, Clark Byroad, Sean Simmons, Michael Stuart, Ben Gannaway, Brandon Robson and Brian Simmons.
Honorary pallbearers: Howard Bruce, Wayne Hall, Bobby Kershaw, Steve Bruce, Tom Waner, Bernie Antes, Duane Yocum and Kenny Wingert.
Arrangements: Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.
The family suggests memorial gifts to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Mo.
