Gaylord D. Duke
Gaylord Delbert Duke, 68, Corydon, died Sunday, June 24, 2012, at his home.
Born Dec. 27, 1943, in New Albany, he was the son of Elma Smith Duke of Corydon and the late Edgar Duke.
He was a retired water and sewer supervisor with the Town of Corydon after 39-1/2 years and attended Calvary Wesleyan Holiness Church near Corydon.
Besides his father, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Sam Hughes, and a brother, Lynn Duke.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife of 50 years, the former Donna Marie Briles; five sons, Vincent Duke of English and Dennis, David, Daniel and Delbert Duke, all of Corydon; two daughters, Teresa Hughes and Donnetta Oates, both of Corydon; two brothers, Glen Duke of Paoli and Eldon Duke of Marengo; a sister, Darlene Horsley of Central; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Thursday, June 28, from noon to 8 p.m. at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon and Friday, June 29, after 9 a.m. at Calvary Wesleyan Holiness Church near Corydon.
Funeral: Friday, June 29, at 11 a.m. at the church with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery near Corydon.
Officiants: The Revs. Lewis Smith, David Dickens and Martha Doubledee.
Pallbearers: Galen Oates, Fred Misamore, Glen and Eldon Duke, Steven Smith and Richard Briles.
