Hockenbury earns mulitple awards as Hanover closer

South Central alum Chip Hockenbury was named All-Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference honorable-mention as well as Academic All-Conference as a member of the Hanover baseball program.
Serving as the closer for the Panthers, Hockenbury ended the 2012 season with a 5-2 record and a 1.69 earned run average in 22 appearances.
Hockenbury allowed just five runs in 26-2/3 innings of work and registered 21 strikeouts. He led the conference in saves (seven) and ERA.
As a team, Hanover finished the season 22-17 overall and 12-12 in the HCAC for sixth place.
The sophomore business scholar is majoring in economics with a minor in creative writing.
