John H. O’Dea

John H. O’Dea, 77, Mauckport, died Saturday, May 19, 2012, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services in New Albany.
Born Dec. 15, 1934, in Hammond, he was the son of the late Neal and Cornelia Lucas O’Dea.
He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War, retired from Ford Motor Co. Kentuckiana Truck Plant in Louisville, was a member of Grace Tabernacle Church near Laconia and UAW Local No. 862 in Louisville and a life member of VFW Post 2950 in Corydon.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.
Survivors include his wife, the former Betty Jean Frakes; two stepsons, Gary Timberlake of Louisville and Ellis Timberlake of Mauckport; four brothers, Richard, Robert, Thomas and James O’Dea; six sisters, Patricia Clark, Beverly Szczudlak, Helen Weaver, Norene Dall, Mary Snyder and Shelia Minton; six grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.
Visitation: Wednesday, May 23, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Thursday, May 24, after 9 a.m. at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.
Funeral: Thursday, May 24, at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with burial in Otterbein Cemetery near Laconia.
Officiant: The Rev. Greg Carter.
Pallbearers: Larry Haub, Travis McKim, John Dowell, Chase and Joshua Timberlake and Kenny Spond.
Honorary pallbearers: Thomas Ernst Jr. and Paul Reas.
The family suggests memorial gifts to the Otterbein Cemetery Fund.
