Basil L. Mumaw Sr.

Basil Lewis Mumaw Sr., 84, died Friday, May 18, 2012, at the home of his in Corydon.
Born Dec. 23, 1927, in Piqua, Ohio, he was the son of the late Edward F. and Rebecca Belle Hardin Mumaw.
He was a World War II Navy veteran, a retired chief rate clerk for the former L & N Railroad and a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Clerks Local Lodge No. 158.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two wives, the former Grace Dennison and Dora E. Maiden Bryne; a son, Basil L. (Mickey) Mumaw Jr.; three sisters, Mary Jane Mumaw, Hazel Burnside and Evelyn Scheik; and two grandchildren, Stewart Ashley Mumaw and Stephanie Grace Jones.
Survivors include three sons, Noah E. Mumaw of Memphis, Benjamin T. Mumaw of Diamond, Ohio, and Hughlett R. Mumaw of Pensacola, Fla.; a stepson, John L. Maiden of Corydon; a daughter, Rebecca C. Cain of Corydon; two stepdaughters, Betty Nolot and Audrey Weathers, both of New Salisbury; a brother, Edward Mumaw of Piqua; a sister, Ollie Francis Jones of Houston, Ohio; 19 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Monday, May 21, from 3 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday, May 22, after 9 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Milltown.
Funeral: Tuesday, May 22, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with interment in El Bethel Cemetery.
Officiant: Brother Mike Petty.
