Lena C. Hagest

Lena C. Lee Hagest, 102, New Albany, died Sunday, March 18, 2012.
A native of Winchester, Ky., she was the daughter of the late George W. and Alma Watts Lee.
She was a 1930 graduate of Leavenworth High School and a member of First church of God, where she served as the nursery attendant and was the stewardship chairperson of the Missionary Society.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel V. Hagest, five sisters, three brothers, and two half brothers.
Survivors include a foster daughter, Gayle Sappenfield; a brother, Charles Lee of Louisville; and a sister, Loretta Eaton of Louisville.
Visitation: Wednesday, March 21, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Oak Street Chapel of Seabrook Dieckmann & Naville Funeral Homes in New Albany and Thursday, March 22, after 10 a.m. at First Church of God in New Albany.
Funeral: Thursday, March 22, at 10:30 a.m. at the church with burial in Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany.
The family suggests memorial gifts to the Children’s Ministry at First Church of God.
