Abduction of child foiled

Police are looking for a vehicle used Monday morning in an attempted child abduction in Harrison County.
The vehicle is a white, older model Ford truck, trimmed with a single strip of gold, that has been converted into a camper, according to Det. Kerry Freeberg of the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department. No license plate was displayed on the vehicle, he said.
The attempted abduction happened as a special-needs child was waiting for the school bus. The child’s mother foiled the attempt and called police.
Two white men ‘ one with blond hair wearing a red shirt and wire-rimmed glasses and the other with black hair and wearing a black hat, blue jeans and a light blue denim shirt ‘ were in the vehicle, which was last seen traveling west from the New Salisbury area.
Police followed up on tips about a vehicle matching this description but as of yesterday afternoon had not located the pickup.
Anyone with information is urged to call the sheriff’s department at 738-2195, option 1.
