John Harold Sauerheber, 92, Corydon, died Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2012, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services in New Albany.
Born May 25, 1919, in Collum, Ill., he was the son of the late Dexter Patrick and Bertha Odessa McCutcheon Sauerheber.
He was a Navy veteran, worked in the Merchant Marine for 36 years and a was a member of Fountain United Methodist Church.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Henry Richard, Warren C. and Victor E. Sauerheber, and two sisters, Marjorie Sauerheber and Betty Harbeson.
Survivors include three sisters, Hazel Wolfe and Barbara Sibert, both of Corydon, and June Wolpert of Nashville, and several nieces and nephews, including Victor W., Janny, Archie, Andi, Vicki and Jackie Sauerheber, who cared for him.
Visitation: Thursday, Feb. 2, from 2 to 8 p.m. and Friday, Feb. 3, after 10 a.m. at Swarens Funeral Home in Depauw.
Funeral: Friday, Feb. 3, at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with burial in Thompson’s Chapel Cemetery near Depauw.
