Alvin Attwood (Smitty) Smith, 94, Corydon, died Sunday, Jan. 22, 2012, at Indian Creek Health & Rehabilitation Center in Corydon.
Born Sept. 25, 1917, in Corydon, he was the son of the late Samuel Atwood and Elva E. Smith.
He was the owner of Smitty’s Bait Shop in Corydon, was formerly employed at the old Eureka Telephone Co. in Corydon, was a member of the Lincoln Hills Fish and Wildlife Committee, was a Past Grand Master of the Royal Order Of Arch Masons Lodge No. 32 and was a poet/lyricist.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, the former Dorothy M. Easter; his stepmother, Goldi Smith; and three brothers, Ralston, Woodrow and James Smith.
Survivors include a son, Carl A. Smith of Corydon; four daughters, Juanita E. Smith, Diana Andriot and Angie Wagner, all of Corydon, and Sharon Conway of New Salisbury; a sister, Ruth Liebert of Borden; a half brother, William Douglas Smith of Corydon; a half sister, Mary Ann Smith of Corydon; 16 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Tuesday, Jan. 24, from 4 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 25, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Thursday, Jan. 26, after 9 a.m. at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.
Funeral: Thursday, Jan. 26, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with burial in Central Cemetery.
Officiant: Pastor Tim Johnson.
Pallbearers: Pete Andriot Jr., Pete Andriot III, Anthony Wagner, Jason Watt, Adam Vannis and Steve Smith.
