Vernon Garbrough

Vernon (Gene) Garbrough, 74, New Albany, died Sunday, Nov. 13, 2011, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services in New Albany.
Born Jan. 11, 1937, in Harrison County, he was the son of the late Amzie H. and Lois M. Brown Garbrough.
He was a retired maintenance worker at Trinity United Methodist Church in New Albany, a former airplane refueler for Delta Airlines at Standiford Field in Louisville, a member of Pleasant Ridge United Methodist Church near Corydon and an Air Force veteran of the Korean War.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn E. Hood.
Survivors include his wife, the former Mary V. (Ginny) Pflanz; a son, Randall G. Garbrough of Lake Placid, Fla.; two daughters, Leigh LeMaster of Sellersburg and Tara Head of New Albany; a sister, Phyllis S. Duley of Corydon; and four grandchildren.
Visitation: Tuesday, Nov. 15, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Wednesday, Nov. 16, after 9 a.m. at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.
Funeral: Wednesday, Nov. 16, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with burial in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery near Corydon.
Pallbearers: Randall Garbrough, David, Katie and Bradley LeMaster, Mark Head and Earl Hood.
The family suggests memorial gifts to Pleasant Ridge United Methodist Church.
