Carl W. Smith, 87, Corydon, died Monday, Oct. 17, 2011, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services in New Albany.
Born Oct. 1, 1924, in Corydon, he was the son of the late Raymond and Geneva Bruchs Smith.
He was an Army veteran of World War II and a self-employed building contractor.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, the former Margaret J. Merchant, and a sister, Alice Bodenstadt.
Survivors include three sons, Carl Raymond Smith of Corydon, Ricky Lee Smith of Marengo and Timothy A. Smith of Searcy, Ark.; two daughters, Patricia Willhoite of Worthville, Ky., and Melissa Kay Sparks of New Albany; a sister, Ruth Ernst of New Albany; nine grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Wednesday, Oct. 19, after 10 a.m. at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.
Funeral: Wednesday, Oct. 19, at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with burial in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Corydon.
Pallbearers: Andrew, Michael, Christopher and Dameon Smith, Guy Sallee and Dalton McCollum.
The family suggests memorial gifts to Mercy Street at Pfrimmer’s Chapel United Methodist Church.
