Pairings announced for IHSAA volleyball tourney
For the 40th year, the Indiana High School Athletic Association announced the pairings Monday night for the IHSAA Volleyball State Tournament.
Three hundred ninety-six schools have entered this year’s tournament with sectional play beginning Tuesday and continuing through Saturday, Oct. 22, at 64 sites across four classifications.
The Class 3A Sectional 30, a seven-team sectional, will be hosted by Salem.
Game one will pit Scottsburg against Charlestown on Tuesday, Oct. 18 at 7 p.m. The winner will face Salem, receivers of the bye, in game 4 (semi-final) on Saturday, Oct. 22 at 11 a.m.
The bottom half of the bracket has North Harrison facing No. 5 Brownstown Central in game 2 on Thursday, Oct. 20 at 6 p.m. In Game 3, Corydon Central will take on Silver Creek on Thursday, Oct. 20 at 7:15 p.m. The winners of Games 2 and 3 will face off in the semi-final on Saturday, Oct. 22 at 12:15 p.m.
The championship game is slated for Saturday, Oct. 22 at 7 p.m.
New Washington will host Class A Sectional 62, a six-team event.
The two opening-round matches include Lanesville facing Rock Creek Academy while New Washington takes on Borden.
Playing in the semi-final will be South Central against Christian Academy of Indiana.
Dates and times of Sectional 62 games were not available at press time.
Admission is $5 per session or $8 for all sessions.
