David J. Royalty

David J. Royalty, 72, Lanesville, died Thursday, July 7, 2011, in Corydon.
Born Jan. 22, 1939, in Louisville, he was the son of Mildred P. Hayes Royalty of Georgetown and the late Olman J. Royalty.
He retired from Local No. 502 after 43 years as a pipefitter/welder, owned and operated Dave’s Gun Shop in his basement for many years, was a special reserve officer with the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department and a member of the NRA, NAHC and the Baptist faith.
Besides his father, he was preceded in death by a son, Michael.
Survivors besides his mother include his wife of 51 years, the former Jo Ann Litch; two sons, Scott Royalty of Lanesville and Alan Royalty of Corydon; a daughter, Sandy Tyree of Corydon; a brother, William Royalty of Texas; two sisters, Clara Sullivan of New Salisbury and Norma Royalty of New Albany; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Friday, July 8, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday, July 9, after 9 a.m. at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Corydon.
Funeral: Saturday, July 9, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with burial in Lanesville Cemetery.
Officiants: The Rev. Shamus Drake and Stanford Nash.
Pallbearers: Rod Seelye, Mike Kurz, Roy Wiseman, Marty McClanahan, Lafe Curts, Don Sieg, Dave Kuntz and Brian Wininger.
The family suggests memorial gifts to the American Cancer Society or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
