James E. Smith

James E. Smith, 90, Marengo, died Friday, June 10, 2011, at 2:35 p.m. at his home.
Born Dec. 23, 1920, in Glasgow, Ky., he was the son of the late James William Smith and Lottie Jane Denham Smith.
He was retired as the former owner of S&S Furniture in Marengo, was a Marengo rural mail carrier, was a Navy and Air Force veteran during World War II and a Korean War survivor, who retired after 30 years of military service, was a life member of the Marengo American Legion and a member of the Pearl Harbor Survivors Bluegrass Chapter.
Survivors include his wife, Marion A. Smith of Marengo; five daughters, Dorothy Ford of Jeffersonville, Monte Andgrade of Granda Hills, Calif., Patricia Stroud and Tina Smith, both of Milltown, and Velma Jane Rappe of Hardinsburg; three sons, James M. Bolton of Norwalk, Calif., James E. Smith Jr. of Granda Hills and Ricky Lee Smith of North Vernon; 21 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Monday, June 13, and Tuesday, June 14, from 4 to 9 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Milltown and Wednesday, June 15, after 9 a.m. at Milltown Christian Church.
Funeral: Wednesday, June 15, at 11 a.m. at the church followed by burial in El Bethel Cemetery.
Officiant: Brother Hank Wolfe.
