James Ralph Voyles, 85, Laconia, died Wednesday, March 30, 2011, at the Robley Rex V.A. Medical Center in Louisville.
Born July 12, 1925, in New Amsterdam, he was the son of the late John Edward and Sophia Bottles Voyles.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II, was retired from Kosmos Cement Co. in Louisville and was a member of the USS Saratoga Association, the Old Capitol Saddle Club in Corydon, Hornickle Post 379 American Legion in Elizabeth and VFW Post 2950 in Corydon.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, the former Ruby I. Hisey; a daughter, Sharon Voyles; three sisters, Evaleen Froman, Ruth Cannon and Catherine Morris; and a brother, Charles Voyles.
Survivors include three daughters, Carol Wetzel of Ramsey, Carla Yeager of Laconia and Michelle Thompson of Brandenburg; three sons, Terry Voyles of Laconia, Jerry Voyles of Elizabeth and David Voyles of Brandenburg; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The funeral was Saturday at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon with burial in Heidelberg Cemetery near Corydon. The Rev. David Kocka officiated. Pallbearers will be Randall Hisey, Casey Jones, Robert Hail, Jon Miller, Randall Hisey Jr. and Roger Yeager.
