Melvin R. Carver Sr.

Melvin Ray Carver Sr., 68, New Salisbury, died Wednesday, March 16, 2011, at his home.
Born Oct. 8, 1942, at Battletown, Ky., he was the son of the late Ralph and Florence Faith Carver.
He was retired from Alcoa Metals Co. in Louisville and was of the Baptist faith.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Jacob Carver.
Survivors include his wife, the former Dianna Sue Jantzen; two sons, Melvin R. Carver Jr. of Corydon and Richard S. Hess of Clay Center, Kan.; a daughter, Tammy Carver-Rennirt of Ramsey; four brothers, Cecil and Charlie Carver, both of Corydon, Carl Carver of Springfield, Mo. and Chester Carver of Milltown; two sisters, Delores Embry of Louisville and Catherine Carver of South Carolina; 16 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Sunday, March 20, from 1 to 6 p.m. at Swarens Funeral Home in Ramsey.
Funeral: Sunday, March 20, at 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
