Boys’ state basketball tournament drawn
Pairings for the 401 teams were drawn and placed into brackets Sunday for the 101st annual IHSAA Boys Basketball State Tournament.
Harrison County teams Corydon Central and Lanesville will seek to score consecutive sectional titles in their respective classes.
Corydon Central (13-6) drew the bye in the seven-team Class 3A Salem Sectional. The Panthers will wait to play the winner of the opening game, Silver Creek (8-10) versus Mitchell (4-13). The opening game will be Tuesday at 7 p.m. Corydon Central will take on the winner on Friday, March 4, at 6 p.m.
The opposite side of the bracket will begin Wednesday, March 2, at 6 p.m. when North Harrison (3-15) takes on Charlestown (15-3). The final opening game will pit Salem (12-7) against Crawford County (15-4) at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 2. The winners will play on Friday, March 4, at approximately 7:30 p.m.
The championship game is slated for Saturday, March 5, at 7:30 p.m.
The Class A Henryville Sectional also features seven teams.
The opening game on Tuesday, at 7 p.m., will pair Rock Creek Academy (15-4) and Henryville (5-13). The winner will take on New Washington (4-15), receiver of the bye, on Friday, March 4, at 6 p.m.
The opposite side of the bracket will feature Harrison County schools. South Central (3-16) will begin play against Borden (12-6) on Wednesday, March 2, at 6 p.m. That game will be followed by Lanesville (11-9) taking on Christian Academy of Indiana (1-17) at approximately 7:30. The winners will play on Friday, March 4, at approximately 7:30 p.m.
The championship game is scheduled for Saturday, March 5, at 7:30 p.m.
The regional round is slated for Saturday, March 12, with semi-states on March 19 and the state finals on March 26 at Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
Sectional admission is $6 per session, $10 for all sessions.
