The Lanesville girls’ basketball team had little trouble in a 67-28 win over visiting Rock Creek Academy Thursday.
Nine different Lady Eagles chipped in points, led by 14 from Brooklynn Keinsley.
Lanesville raced out to a big lead in the first half. Emma Bays kick-started a 9-0 run to open the game with an offensive put-back. Ashley Schoen and Rachel Riley contributed two points each, while Kayla Smith hit her first of three 3-pointers.
Rock Creek broke into the scoring column with a Kelli Davidson field goal, but her bucket was quickly answered by another Lanesville run.
The 10-0 breakaway was sparked by a Shelbie Timberlake field goal and was capped by consecutive baskets from Riley. Forcing 14 first-quarter turnovers, Lanesville led 19-3 at the end of eight minutes.
In the second quarter, Keinsley scored nine of her 14 points. By the end of the first half, Lanesville led, 42-9, putting the game far out of reach.
Schoen finished the game with 12 points, followed by 11 from Smith. Riley added eight, and Timberlake had six points.
Rock Creek had the game’s leading scorer with Davidson tallying 17.
The two-game winning streak was snapped by New Harmony on Saturday. The Lady Rappites defeated the Lady Eagles, 59-51.
