Mary E. Schneider

Mary Elsie Schneider, 90, Lanesville, died Monday, Jan. 17, 2011, at Lincoln Hills Health Care Center in New Albany.
Born July 7, 1920, in Grayhampton, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Roy and Mary Alma Thomas Norris.
She was a homemaker, a former employee of the old TG&Y in Corydon, a former nurse’s aide at Floyd Memorial Hospital in New Albany and a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lanesville.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Anthony Schneider, and a brother, Robert Norris.
Survivors include seven sons, Raymond and Jerome T. Schneider, both of Lanesville, Wayne R. and James M. Schneider, both of English, Russell G. Schneider of New Albany, Dennis Schneider of Indianapolis and Joseph M. Schneider of Jeffersonville; three daughters, Dorothy Marie Ault of Leigh High Acres, Fla., and Barbara Henckel and Mary Rickert, both of Lanesville; three brothers, Leo Norris of Lanesville and Roy Jr. and Mack Norris, both of Vine Grove, Ky.; two sisters, Margie Lambert and Helen Froman, both of Vine Grove; 23 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Thursday, Jan. 20, from 2 to 8 p.m. and Friday, Jan. 21, after 9 a.m. at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Corydon.
Funeral Mass: Friday, Jan. 21, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lanesville followed by burial in the church cemetery. Celebrant: Father Juan Valdez.
