Opal F. Oxley

Opal Fay Oxley, 87, Birdseye, died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2011, in Jasper.
Born March 9, 1923, near Bristow, she was the daughter of the late Claudis Earl and Flavia Bernice Sturgeon Albin.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Everett Burns (George) Oxley, on Feb. 24, 1994; a sister, Wanda Lee Kowal; and three grandchildren, Danita Joann Hall, Adam Keith Bush and Aaron Oxley Merder.
Survivors include three daughters, Evonne Schmitt of St. Anthony, Elayne Schneider of Birdseye and Holly Sattler of Holland; three sons, Robert Oxley of Santa Claus, Kevin Oxley of Corydon and Evan Oxley of Eckerty; two brothers, Wayne and Lennie Albin, both of Tell City; four sisters, Fern Uebelhor, Tina Smith and Patsy Pund, all of Tell City, and Bonnie Miller of Hawesville, Ky.; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be scheduled this spring.
Arrangements: Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg.
The family suggests memorial gifts to the Town of Birdseye for the completion of the Birdseye Town Mural project planned for the Dubois County Museum.
