SC boys pick up win at Tecumseh

The South Central boys’ basketball team traveled to Tecumseh on Dec. 28 for the one-day Tecumseh Classic. The Rebels came away with a split, defeating Evansville Day but falling to the host school.
In the opening round of the four-team event, Tecumseh took a 16-9 lead into halftime. South Central managed to close the gap to 27-22 at the end of three quarters but eventually dropped the decision, 37-29, to the Braves.
Jason Boston had his first of two double-doubles on the day against Tecumseh. Boston scored 13 points on 5-of-9 shooting and collected 10 rebounds. Kyle Pease contributed seven points and six rebounds.
The Rebels didn’t fare well from the field, shooting 27 percent.
South Central managed to bounce back in the third-place game, defeating Evansville Day, 54-41.
Using a 14-6 edge after one quarter, South Central eventually led 32-18 at the half before taking the victory.
In the win, Boston logged 10 points, 12 rebounds and four assists. Nick Bennett led the team in scoring with 15 points and also dished four assists.
Pease also reached double figures with 11 points, while teammates Alex Wiseman and Logan Carter contributed seven points each.
The Rebels shot (50 percent) considerably better in game two from the field.
North Posey (7-0) went on to win the tournament, scoring a 41-34 win over Tecumseh in the championship game.
South Central (2-7) will hit the road this weekend, facing Lanesville on Friday and Rock Creek Academy on Saturday. Both games will tip at 7:30 p.m.
