Eagles capture Cannelton Inv. top host in final
The Lanesville boys’ basketball team doubled its win total last week after winning the Cannelton Invitational.
During the course of the three-day, three-game tournament, Lanesville outscored its foes, 209-87.
The Eagles scored three decisive wins, including a lopsided 87-21 decision in the championship game over the host Bulldogs. Lanesville led 24-3 after one quarter and cruised from there. Justin Miller led the Eagles with 19 points and 11 rebounds in the title game.
Lanesville hit nine 3-pointers for the game. Chris Gayhart, Aaron Borders, Alec Turner and Jack Ferree had two each.
Gayhart finished with 11 points, while Borders and Ferree reached double figures with 10 each.
As a team, the Eagles forced 38 turnovers while committing just nine.
In the semi-final matchup, Lanesville more than doubled up Columbus Christian, 53-25. Lanesville faced Columbus Christian after dropping New Harmony, 69-41, in the opener.
Lanesville (6-2), currently on a six-game winning streak, will host South Central Friday at 7:30 p.m. The following night, the Eagles will host West Washington at 7:30 p.m.
