Paul J. Scharrer Sr.

Paul J. Scharrer Sr., 82, New Salisbury, died Monday, Dec. 13, 2010, at Harrison County Hospital in Corydon.
Born April 29, 1928, at Boonville, he was the son of the late Frank E. and Elsie Temple Scharrer.
He was a former grocer in New Albany and proprietor of the old Potpourri Restaurant at Corydon, a member of Pythagoras Lodge No. 355 F&AM in New Albany and a 50-year member of Scottish Rite Valley of Evansville.
Survivors include his wife, the former Mayme K. Hurt; two sons, Kevin and Paul J. Jr. Scharrer, both of New Salisbury; a daughter, Cathy Smith of Corydon; two sisters, Ruby Funk of Jeffersonville and Marlene Kopp of New Salisbury; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Wednesday, Dec. 15, from 2 to 8 p.m., with Masonic rites at 7, and Thursday, Dec. 16, after 8 a.m. at Swarens Funeral Home in Ramsey.
Funeral: Thursday, Dec. 16, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with burial in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany.
