Lady Cats shoot well, down South Central
North Harrison girls’ basketball coach Hal Pearson said his team played maybe the smartest game of the year when county-rival South Central visited Ramsey last Wednesday.
A strong shooting percentage (48.9 percent) led to a 57-37 victory over the Lady Rebels. North Harrison was paced in scoring by Rebekah Stephenson, who scored a game-best 19 points. She knocked down three 3-pointers and also contributed four assists.
Emily Giles contributed 12 points for the Lady Cats on 6-of-11 shooting. She also added eight rebounds.
North Harrison was strong on the boards, out-rebounding the Lady Rebels, 39-29. Hayley Renneker pulled down 10 boards for the winners.
‘We did a good job of finding Shelby Miller and not letting her get her 20,’ Pearson said. ‘We also limited rebounds, too. We controlled boards, and we didn’t let their press bother us. All those were big factors in the game.’
South Central was paced by Shelby Miller’s 15 points and 12 rebounds. She also had five assists and seven steals.
Also reaching double-figure scoring was Katie Saylor with 10 points. Overall, South Central struggled from the field, going 15 of 58 (26 percent).
North Harrison is slated to travel to Salem tomorrow (Thursday) for a 7:30 p.m. contest. South Central will return to action Saturday, making the journey to Barr-Reeve for a 2:30 p.m. tip.
