Thomas E. Alvey
Thomas E. Alvey, 85, Corydon and Zephyrhills, Fla., died Thursday, Dec. 2, 2010, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services in New Albany.
Born July 9, 1925, in Union County, Ky., he was the son of the late Louis Everett and Mary Fidelis Alvey.
He was employed by Producers Marketing Association for more than 40 years and managed the Milltown branch until his retirement, was a former member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Corydon and was a member of St. Rita’s Catholic Church in Dade City, Fla., and the Knights of Columbus.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two infant children, Charles and Marguerite Alvey; six brothers; and a sister.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, the former Kathleen (Kitty) Conrad; a son, Thomas C. Alvey of Flower Mound, Texas; six daughters, Mary Jude Curl of Hillsboro, Ore., Kathy Holcomb of Sharpsburg, Ga., Letitia Berry of Corydon, Cecilia Cooke of Georgetown, Patti Wanzung of Wheaton, Ill., and Jackie Huff of Hillsborough, N.C.; a sister, Martha Mills of Madisonville, Ky.; 23 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral: Monday, Dec. 6, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Corydon with burial in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers: Tom Alvey, Steve Curl, Bruce Holcomb, Rick Berry, Tony Cooke, Dan Wanzung and Marty Huff.
Arrangements: Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Corydon.
The family suggests memorial gifts to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
