Samuel J. Mellett

Samuel J. Mellett, 90, Milltown, died Sunday, Oct. 31, 2010, at University Hospital in Louisville.
Born July 12, 1920, in Louisville, he was the son of the late Samuel T. and Freda Wenzel Mellett.
He was a retired foreman for the old Naval Ordnance, was a World War II Army veteran, where he served with the 3259th Signal Service Company, was a member of the Crawford County Cattlemen’s Association and 4-H Extension Board, was a past chairman for the Crawford County Soil and Water and served on the Lincoln Hills RCD and Civilian Conservation Corp.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Elsie M. Mellett; two sons, Edwin M. Mellett of Louisville and Anthony J. Mellett of Milltown; a brother, Theodore Mellett of Louisville; three sisters, Mary Avery of Louisville, Alice White of Eldridge, Iowa, and Ruthie Lockhard of Louisville; two grandsons; and a step-great-granddaughter.
Visitation: Wednesday, Nov. 3, from 3 to 8 p.m. and Thursday, Nov. 4, after 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Milltown. Cremation was chosen.
Funeral: Thursday, Nov. 4, at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
Officiant: Brother Harvey McAdams.
