Festivities center around Halloween, fall

Several activities are planned for the weekend, some with haunted themes while others focus on fall.
On Saturday evening, two Corydon churches are hosting events in downtown Corydon. Gene Stambaugh, director of children’s ministry at Trinity Assembly of God, and Vince Garmon, minister of Connection at First Capital Christian, invited everyone to attend their free events.
First up is First Capital Christian’s second Fall Down on the Square festival on the town square from 3 to 8 p.m. There will be free food, games and prizes.
Before that wraps up, Trinity Assembly of God will begin its Fall Harvest Festival at 6 at 109 W. Poplar St. This family-friendly festival, which will conclude at 8, will include games, food and prizes, including four bikes, for all ages up to the sixth grade. The prize drawing will be at 7:45 p.m. and you must be present to win. For more information, call 738-2516.
Also on Saturday, the Georgetown Masonic Lodge, located at 1735 Kelley Ave., will host a trick-or-treat family night from 5 to 7.
American Legion Post 84 in Marengo will have a hayride and trick-or-treating for children Saturday from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. and a karaoke costume party for adults from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. at the post.
American Legion Post 332 in Milltown will host a Halloween party Saturday from 4 to 8 p.m. for children up to 12 years old.
The residents of Blue River Services’ Corydon-Ramsey group home will host a haunted house Saturday from 8 p.m. to midnight at 2601 Corydon Pike in New Albany. Admission will be $2 per person, $5 per family and $7 for a group of seven or more. All proceeds from the haunted house will be used to fund a trip for the group home residents. The Bodenbender family near Georgetown has changed the times for viewing of their Halloween display in Heritage Woods subdivision. Visitors are invited to drive by the display Saturday from 5 to 9 p.m., with a live display from 6 to 8 Saturday evening.
