Draw: CC, NH look to avenge ’09 losses
The 38th annual state football tournament pairings were released Sunday.
Sectional play will begin Friday, Oct. 22, and will wrap up with the state finals at Lucas Oil Stadium.
The Class 3A Sectional 23 draw has jammed the top three teams ‘ Corydon Central, Indian Creek and Heritage Hills ‘ on one side of the bracket.
The two teams with the best records going into the final regular season game ‘ Corydon Central (7-1) and Indian Creek (7-1) ‘ will square off in the first round. Indian Creek eliminated the Panthers in the sectional semi-final last season, 13-8, in Trafalger. This time around, the Braves will travel to Corydon for the meeting.
The winner will face the winner of the Heritage Hills (6-2) versus North Harrison (1-7) contest. Both met in the first round of the playoffs last season, with the Patriots winning, 43-7, in Ramsey. This coming meeting, North Harrison will travel to Lincoln City.
The opposite side of the bracket has Salem (0-8) at Brown County (2-6) and Edgewood (2-6) at Charlestown (5-3).
Since joining the sectional in 2007 with North Harrison and Corydon Central, Heritage Hills has won the sectional each year.
