Motorcyclist killed in crash

A motorcyclist was killed Monday at about 1:35 p.m. on S.R. 62 west of Lanesville in a two-vehicle collision.
According to Officer Anthony Mills of the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department, Alfred W. Overton, 44, of Elizabeth was killed when Danae R. Mattingly of Lanesville lost control of her 2000 Honda Accord while traveling west on S.R. 62.
Police said that evidence at the scene and statements from Mattingly indicate that she steered to miss a deer, lost control of her car, went left of center and struck Overton, who was driving a 1984 Honda motorcycle.
Overton was pronounced dead at the scene, Mills said.
Dana Overton, who was riding on the motorcycle with her husband, was taken by helicopter to University Hospital in Louisville, as was a juvenile passenger of Mattingly’s, whose name was not released.
Mattingly was transported by ground ambulance to University Hospital.
Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon is handling arrangements for Overton.
