Corydon man dies after fall at Jeffboat

A Corydon man employed by Jeffboat died Friday, May 14, 2010, from injuries sustained in a fall from a ladder the previous day.
Kent David Martin, 44, was a painter at the Jeffersonville shipyard where another employee, Robert E. Harrison, died Monday, May 10.
Martin was pronounced dead at 8:23 a.m. at University Hospital in Louisville. Jefferson County Deputy Coroner Jack Arnold said Martin, who fell about 25 feet from a fixed, vertical ladder into a cargo tank on a barge, died from multiple blunt-force trauma.
The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating the deaths. Jeffboat has about 2,750 employees.
Born Sept. 3, 1965, in Corydon, Martin was a member of Local Teamsters 89. He had worked at Jeffboat for about six years. His funeral was Tuesday, May 18, at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Corydon.
