Adrian E. Purvis
Adrian E. Purvis, 88, died Monday, April 26, 2010, at Indian Creek Health & Rehabilitation Center in Corydon.
Born Sept. 24, 1921, in Bardstown, Ky., he was the son of the late John Z. and Elizabeth Coyle Purvis.
He was an Army veteran of World War II, a piano technician for Conrad and Sons Music in Corydon and a member of Victory Baptist Church in New Salisbury.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, the former Shirley M. Riley.
Survivors include three sons, Larry and Gary Purvis, both of Corydon, and Dale Purvis of Elgin, S.C.; two daughters, Mary Margaret Sutherland and Sharon Hochstetler, both of Elizabeth; three sisters, Mildred Siler of Garden City, Mich., Cleota Hardin of Somerset, Ky., and Cordelia McGee of Louisville; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Friday, April 30, from 2 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, May 1, after 9 a.m. at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Corydon.
Funeral: Saturday, May 1, at 1 p.m. at the funeral home will burial in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Corydon.
Officiant: Mark Hubbard.
Pallbearers: Larry, Gary and Dale Purvis, Sharon and Rodger Hochstetler and Rodney Sutherland.
Honorary pallbearers: Mary Margaret Sutherland, Josh Purvis, Jason Taylor, Maria Kramer, Howley and Brandy Wilkerson and Tammy Gould.
The family suggests memorial gifts to Hospice of Southern Indiana.
