U.S. Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Curtis Michael Swenson, 20, died Friday, April 2, 2010, in Afghanistan from injuries sustained following an IED explosion.
Born May 11, 1989, in Rochester, Minn., he was the son of Dave and Kay Swenson.
He graduated from Mayo High School in 2007 and then enlisted in the Marine Corps.
He was preceded in death by two grandfathers, Max Swenson and Bud Sperger.
Survivors besides his parents include his wife of nearly eight months, the former Katie Ingle, of Kaneohe Bay, Oahu, Hawaii, and a sister, Emily Swenson of Rochester, Minn.
Funeral: Saturday, April 10, at Bethel Lutheran Church in Rochester with burial in Stone Church Cemetery in Houston, Minn.
Officiant: The Rev. Norman Wahl.
Arrangements: Macken Funeral Home in Rochester.
The family suggests memorial gifts to the Bethel Lutheran Church’s youth activity programs, and there will also be a scholarship fund established by the Rochester Marine Corps League.
