Melvin F. Colin
Melvin Francis Colin, 84, Milltown, died Saturday, March 20, 2010, at Harrison Health & Rehabilitation Centre in Corydon.
Born Feb. 17, 1926, at Depauw, he was the son of the late Oliver Edmund and Mary Olive Saunders Colin.
He graduated from Depauw High School, was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving from 1944 to 1946, was employed as a lab tech from 1952 to 1971 by E.I. du Pont Co. in Louisville, and, in 1967, began his own business, Colin Trailer Sales, in New Salisbury, Ind., then sold it in 1982.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, the former Grace Evelyn Tower; a son, Roger Alan Colin; a brother, Donald Wayne Colin; and a sister, Merlene Marie Henriott.
Survivors include a daughter, Sheila Ann Bond of Corydon; a sister, Joanna Bernetta Simon of Ramsey; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Tuesday, March 23, from 1 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday, March 24, after 8 a.m. at Swarens Funeral Home in Ramsey.
Funeral: Wednesday, March 24, at 10 a.m. at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Frenchtown followed by burial in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers: Joshua and Jesse Crecelius, Bill Booth, Benny Allen, Scott DuBois and Myron Ron Bond.
Honorary pallbearers: Elmer Schlensker, Ronald Spencer and Bobby Lee Crecelius.
