Simon L. Heatwole

Simon L. Heatwole, 87, Corydon, died Monday, March 15, 2010, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services in New Albany.
Born Jan. 10, 1923, in Clover Hill, Va., he was the son of the late Russell Edward and Gertrude Simmers Heatwole.
He was a retired truck driver for Perkins Furniture Transport, a machinist for Ingersol Rand in Painted Post, N.Y., a member of Shiloh Pilgrim Holiness Church near Corydon and an Army veteran of World War II.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Ricky Heatwole.
Survivors include his wife, the former Norma L. Bellows; three sons, Chuck E. and Richard L. Heatwole, both of Corydon, and Jim L. Heatwole of Hobe Sound, Fla.; a daughter, Polly A. Smith of South Africa; two brothers, Jim Heatwole of Nashville, Tenn., and John Heatwole of Virginia; a sister, Shirley Alexander of Wellsboro, Pa.; nine grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Wednesday, March 17, from 2 to 8 p.m. and Thursday, March 18, after 9 a.m. at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.
Funeral: Thursday, March 18, at 1 p.m. at the funeral home followed by burial in Heidelberg Cemetery south of Corydon.
Officiant: The Rev. Mark Ranke.
Pallbearers: Jacob Lee, Patrick Wille, Dwayne Reynolds, Randy Brown, Dave Heatwole, Matt Sturgeon, Buddy Burns and Jimmy Lowery.
The family suggests memorial gifts to Shiloh Holiness Christian School.
