Elisabeth W. Williams

Elisabeth Williamson Williams, 87, Durham, N.C., formerly of London, England, died Sunday, Feb. 7, 2010, as a result of Alzheimer’s disease and congestive heart failure.
Born Sept. 20, 1922, in Rotheram, Yorkshire, England, she was the daughter of the late Percy and Grace Williamson.
She was a 1940 graduate of Putney High School, was employed as a secretary with the Canadian Military Headquarters based in London during World War II, was employed as a secretary in the London offices of the British Medical Association, was employed with Berlin’s Department Store in Corydon from 1952 to 1956, was a member of Tri Kappa sorority from 1952 to 2004, She served on the Corydon Public Library board and was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in New Albany.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, James Daniel Williams Jr., on March 14, 1987, and a sister, Sheila Mary Williamson.
Survivors include a son, John W. Williams of Durham, and two grandchildren.
Cremation was chosen. There will be a memorial service Thursday, March 11, at 10 a.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in New Albany.
