Pairings released for girls’ hoops sectional

Seedings were released Monday night for the IHSAA girls’ basketball state tournament, which begins next week.
The Class 3A Sectional 30 will be hosted by Silver Creek. North Harrison (6-12) will tangle with rival Crawford County (8-11) in the opening game Tuesday, Feb. 9, at 7 p.m. The Lady Cats, the defending sectional champions, won the regular season meeting, 48-44.
The winner will advance to take on Silver Creek (8-11), which drew the bye, in the 6 p.m. game on Friday, Feb. 12.
Corydon Central (5-13) will take on Mitchell (2-16) in the second game (approximately 7:30 p.m.) on Wednesday, Feb. 10. The Lady Panthers, who have won two in a row, carry a 4-1 record against sectional foes this season.
Also in the bottom half of the bracket, Salem (12-7) is pitted against Charlestown (11-8) on Wednesday, Feb. 10, at 6 p.m.
Semi-final games will take place Friday, Feb. 12, and the championship contest will be played at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 13.
The Class A Sectional 62 will be hosted by New Washington. South Central (12-8), winner of six of the last seven sectionals, drew the bye.
The Lady Rebels will take on the winner from the opening game (Tuesday, Feb. 9 at 7 p.m.), New Washington (11-7) versus Christian Academy of Indiana (6-15). South Central, which went 5-0 against sectional foes in the regular season, will play Friday, Feb. 12, at 6 p.m. in the semi-final.
Lanesville (10-10) is situated in the lower half of the bracket. The Lady Eagles drew winless Rock Creek Academy (0-18) and will play the Lions on Wednesday, Feb. 10, at 6 p.m. Lanesville won the regular season meeting, 65-28.
The other opening game will feature Borden (6-12) against Henryville (8-12) at 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 10. If Lanesville wins, the Lady Eagles will take on the winner in the semi-finals on Friday, Feb. 12, at 7:30 p.m.
The championship game will take place on Saturday, Feb. 13, at 7 p.m.
Admission to all sectionals are $5 per session or $9 for all sessions.
